2009 Community Winners

The Walktober Community Challenge is supported by VicHealth and by the Municipal Association of Victoria to encourage a broad range of local government, community groups and organisations to promote walking programs and events for their communities, and link them to Walktober.

The 'challenge' is to 'set the pace' by being the municipality hosting the most walking events. It’s not limited to events organised by local government, but using local government area (LGA) boundaries is simply a practical way of grouping community events. 605 walking events were linked with the 2009 Walktober Community Challenge.

The Walktober Community Challenge Awards recognises the commitment of community groups and organisations, and the creativity and diversity of walking initiatives.
